I've set up
JimPulse -
a companion blog to this site - that will let me post more frequent
smaller items and let other people post comments.

The site will be relocating to
http://www.magwag.plus.com/jim/.
The pages will be duplicated at both locations for a while, but once the
new location is picked up by search engines I'll set up redirection nortices.

I've made a "plan of attack" to complete
The High Mountains of Britain and Ireland
before my fortieth birthday.
See my
Mountain Campaign
page for more details.

I've decided to make a page of
UK Traffic Free Cycle Routes
that I've ridden - as information on them can be a bit tricky to
track down. It's a bit basic at the moment as it took so long to
do the Brisotl/Bath Railway Path entry, but I'll flesh
out the rest when I have time. I feel a more comprehensive cycling
section of the site coming on.

The site is now relocated to
http://randell.myby.co.uk/jim/.
I will put up redirection pages at the old address as soon as I can actually
get on to the upload site.

The site is now mirrored at
http://randell.myby.co.uk/jim/.
As this is a server I can upload to directly from my Cable Modem it's likely to be
more frequently updated than the "main" site.

I discovered how easy it is to add file system swap to Linux.
So I thought I'd share the exprience with a
Tips Page.

I've made a
Grading Comparison Table
for various systems used to grade rock climbs around the world.
This is a reworking of a text based table I put together several
years ago (and goes to show how difficult it is to put together
column oriented data in an HTML table).
Also included are some notes on how the UK rock grading system works.

It brings the total content of my site to 7 Megabytes.

My Munro Map.
It's not an active map, so you can't click on it
(well you can, but it won't do anything).

I finally got around to incorporating my tables of
Rocks Climbs by Partner
into the main site.
They're all linked off my partners list on my
"Climbs - Total"
page.

After developing four films finally found the one that I was after.
Scanned in a few of the photos and added them to
my Photo Gallery.

Found some old pictures (badly scanned GIFs) of my ascent of
Mourning Glory, so I created pages for them and added
them into the story at the
appropriate place.

I've made the

We've got a new scanner and just got the photos back from Liz &
Mark's Wedding (at which I was Best Man).
So we've scanned a few in and made a
Wedding Page
for them.

Just got back from a walking/climbing trip to Scotland so my mountain and
climbing lists have been updated appropriately. (I also fixed the
conversion factor bug which led to all the metre heights being wrong).
-
I'm also working on my
Graded List of UK Climbs
and will link it into my home page when I'm happy with it. An area list is
also planned, and lists of climbs and mountains by partners when I get
round to it.

Uploaded my
list of climbing and walking trips
and associated photos. I've downsized the images from the originals and
saved them with JPEG compression using
The GIMP.
I should be getting a scanner soon, so I'll replace
the rather poor 256 colour GIFs with true colour JPEGs if I can find all
the original photos.

Took delivery of my new PC - 400MHz AMD K6-2, 128Mb RAM, 8.4Gb
HDD - from those nice people at
CCL.
Assembled it and installed Red Hat 5.2 on it (free with the May 1999 issue of
PCPlus).

In the coming months this web site should grow and be full of the stuff
my loyal fans are used to.

Brought up this site. I'm currently maintaining it from a laptop
with only 10MB of free disk space, so there'll be no images or complex
pages for a while. I intend to get a "proper" computer soon. Then I'll be
able to set up a more comprehensive site.

Jim's Web Site existed during this time, but was only available
to the lucky employees of HP, where I was
working at the time.
